Dear Lowell,  The Mazatlan area&#039;s main income sources are agriculture, fishing, drugs, livestock breeding, commerce and industry.  Tourism is pretty low on the list, and tourists don&#039;t buy that many groceries.  So, no - sorry - wrong assumption.  I do stress always that retirees who truly want to stretch their dollars or pesos shop in native markets - that&#039;s where you get the bargains...no matter which area you are in.</description>
