Excellent suggestion – but for those who think it’s too late – people heading into their 60′s – there are other countries you can live in for a lot less than you can in the U.S. There are beginning to be really nice, affordable retirement homes in those other countries, because they see the need too.

If you save money it will give you benefits when you get older. At that time of age you need support, but if you are financially sounds, then it will not tough to hire Caregiver’s services. So save for your future. J

Cards such as the discount cards are underwritten by the businesses who gain customers and sales. Same as in any country. Barbie

I wonder how the Mexican government would afford distributing so many discount cards. It looks like they are under good profits that they can afford to sell products to their citizens at subsidized prices. Anyways, good that the Mexicans especially the Senior Mexicans can now enjoy freedom to shop adequate and at the same time will be able to even save.

Due to the increase in overall expenses in day to day life, all of us strive hard towards having a good amount of savings at the end of the month. For this at times we even buy clothes and food stuff from the roadside. But now this situation might be seen in Mexico in the coming years as the Government of Mexico has bought some relief to its senior citizens.

My only question to the Mexican Government is that why only the senior citizens should be given a chance to save and why is it that only they are provided with a discount card? Even the young generation should be provided with one so as to ensure that they realize the importance of saving money at an early age which would help them save some more for their future.

Good going Mexico! The main motive of the Mexican Government behind the discount card concept is to serve the senior citizens of Mexico. This city is proving to be citizen friendly and people of course would like to stay in a city like this where they nurture their citizens like this. I wish this facility is available soon in every part of the world.

Every family thinks of saving money no matter whether they are rich or poor. It’s always good to have a saving habit as it helps to manage our expenses when we come close to or we enter our retirement age. I think that ways Mexico is doing a great job! What kind of a discount is it? Is it on food, clothing or any other shopping? If it’s on everything then I think the senior Mexican’s will be the most beneficial citizens amongst the whole world. It’s a good deed that the Mexico government is doing by issuing discount cards and other facilities. Great Work Mexico! Keep it up.

Go Mexico! There you are, with all such good facilities to make the senior citizens life so affordable and even for that matter bringing some sort of happiness in their life. I think the government of this city is doing a very good job. Keep it up Mexico. I think even I would be coming to Mexico before some years of my retirement so that even I enjoy the benefits of a discount card. LOL!

This is the first time that I’ve heard about this. Does this card only apply for those visiting Mexico? I should tell my grandparents about this because they’re retired and checking off places on their bucket list :)

Hi, Barbie. I’ve been reading your posts and enjoy them. We are considering moving to Mexico within the next year/year and a half. We are planning a trip to La Manzanilla del Mar next May (Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise).

My question is how long after we move to Mexico can we apply for an FM-3 visa to replace our Turista card?
