Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year…

Hi. Barbie here. The New Year is upon us already! Boy, the year sure has gone by fast –again.

Dick and I and Griffy, too, hope you and your loved ones had the most wonderful Holiday Season, and wish for all of you, Blessings Galore in the New Year.

I’m sending you all a few, albeit a little late, “gifts”, in this mailing… Although these gifts won’t go under your tree, which I’m sure you’re taking down by now, I think you’ll find everyone of them valuable to you. So, here’s my offering to you – enjoy:

Free Credit Report:

This is actually a free report – does not change or hamper your credit reports – and you can avail yourself of this free service, once a year, every year, at – https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

National Do Not Call:

If you, like Dick and I, just grit our teeth when all those unsolicited phone calls come through, and then, try to act polite to people who are really stepping on your privacy, then use this service. It will take a few weeks to become active, but, it does work. Go to this site and fill in the info for your phone privacy to start – it too is totally free – https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx

Get Free Books:

If you are one of the many, many folks who have found reading a pleasure on a Kindle, (or an Ipod, or an IPad) did you know that not only can you purchase the books you desire and take them with you anyplace you go on a handy little Kindle, but you can actually get free books! Just go to – free books

Free Books to Read On Your Computer:

Don’t have a Kindle (yet)? How about just getting comfortable in front of you computer and read books free – online – no Kindle needed! Get that second cup of coffee, get comfortable and plan to spend a few hours reading great books FREE right on your own computer, at – http://www.readbookonline.net/

Share Books Free:

You can also “share” books through Amazon – and if you order lots of things like I do through Amazon, and use Amazon Prime, it’s a totally free service that you find here: share books

Just a whole lot of Freebies – now, EVERYONE loves this stuff!

At this site, you can access free coupons and links to everything from free razors and cookbooks to dishes – all free at – http://www.shopathome.com/discounts_and_coupons/Download-Brand.aspx

Have fun with these links – but, remember, the way to save in Mexico during your retirement years – sort of like giving yourself a free gift – is to buy where the natives do, eat where they eat, and shop as they shop. You’d be surprised! I don’t think anyone should move to Mexico without first making trip there to test the water. When you do go, after you’ve gotten all your information gathered together, then visit the area that really peaks your interests and needs, not as a tourist, but as someone searching for a place that will fulfill your desires and needs for a wonderful retirement!

P.S. You will probably want to make sure your pop-up blockers are on before visiting a couple of these sites – I put mine on, and I have had no problems with “cookies”, etc. By the way, before I say goodbye for today, I do want to remind you of another thing: Right now, go and get your checkbook and write on at least 20 checks, the new year of 2012 on the date line. I can almost guarantee that, since we all do things automatically, you will still be writing the old year of 2011 in the date unless you fill those checks in right now.

Happy Holidays to both of you!
I always enjoyed reading and participating in your blog, which is wonderful to have, Thank you.
I want you to let us know how bad is the crime now in the Lake Chapala and San Miguel area. My husband and I have been planning for years to spend part of the year in the San Miguel and Lake Chapala area, but now all we hear is how bad the crime is down there, even a retired person was killed. Is it really that bad? Please write and let us all know if you can.
As always thank you for your e-mails.
Sincerely,
Isabel
