Take Your

So many people

have emailed

me, worried

about whether

or not they can

bring their pets to Mexico.

Bringing your pets, at least dogs and cats, into Mexico is pretty easy, if you just know how:

Assuming you take excellent care of your pet anyway, you just need to have your vet fill out the proper form – one that states your pet has had the required shots and is in good health.

I have more info on pets in my book Retire In Luxury, such as contacting your vet well in advance to make sure he has the required forms to bring your pet along, etc.

hi again, ok so in keeping with my moving to mexico research, it of course will not happen if i can’t bring my beloved belgian shepherd cleo with me!! She’s 18 months old and has a heart condition, which you wouldn’t know as her meds work wonders! How do i go about taking her from london, she’s up to fate with her shots, and has a checkup every month, will she have to go into quarantine?

Hi, You will not need anything other than the form (77-043), from your Vet, signed and stating the dog is up to date on all shots, rabies, hepatitis, pip and leptospirosis, and dated not less than one month nor more than 12 months previous to your crossing. The certificate will state the pet is in good health and list their inoculations.
Contact your vet well in advance to make sure he has the forms for taking a pet out of the country.

Now, the problem may arise when you attempt to leave Mexico and bring your pet back into England – a totally different story – and will undoubtedly involve Cleo being quarantined…sorry.
